Tenant(s) must be able to walk or wheel without assistance from another person and be able to exit the building without assistance. (Temporary assistance is available following hospitalization or recuperation from an illness). Tenant(s) must be able to get to the dining room and/or community rooms without assistance and be able to eat without assistance. Must understand and manage his/her own dietary needs and require minimal assistance such as opening cartons, cutting food. Tenant(s) should be able to keep his/her apartment neat and prevent a safety hazard between scheduled staff cleaning.
Tenant(s) must be able to use and maintain electrical
appliances in a safe manner.
Tenant(s) must be able to participate in planning and decision making regarding his/her personal schedule and health welfare. Tenant(s) must be able to maintain personal hygiene. May need assistance in and out of the shower. May need initiation, structure, or reminders. Tenant(s) may need minor assistance with dressing or the choosing of appropriate clothing. May require reminders or motivation. Tenant(s) must be able to care for his/her own toileting needs. May need reminders or occasional aids. Tenant(s) may need general oversight of medication through set up of an administration system, staff reminders, and monitoring. Must be able to self administer. Tenant(s) should have little or no difficulty with time, place, and person orientation. May be forgetful or may exhibit minor judgement defects requiring staff guidance. Tenant(s) should be free of disturbing or disabling behavior patterns which affect capacity for group living. Tenant(s) must be able to handle personal finances or receive assistance from family or conservator. Tenant(s) must not engage in abusive use of drugs or alcohol. Must not use tobacco or related substances on premises (in building/facilities/place of residence).
Tenant(s) must be able to use telephone and all emergency response systems. Must also be able to vacate premises in case of an emergency and be alert to telephone, fire alarms, and smoke detectors. Tenant(s) must understand the rules and regulations of Grand Traverse Pavilions and The Cottages and be willing to abide by them. Tenant(s) must not require continuous nursing care.
If Tenant(s) are unable to meet the above criteria, tenancy would only be possible through the ability to make arrangements for additional support and services at his/her own expense. |
