The Intergenerational Community Center is home to a state licensed child care center, where infants, toddlers, and preschoolers enjoy a variety of year-long social and recreational activities.
The children take part in daily interaction
with the older adults in residence at The Pavilions
and participate in a number of field trips, which include
trips to the zoo, petting farms, fishing excursions,
and the shopping malls. The age-exchanges that take place
daily at the ICC are thoughtfully designed to be positive,
purposeful. Both the children and their senior companions
'grandpals' benefit from the experience and from lasting
relationships.
ICC staff bring multiple years
of educational experience, including early childhood
development expertise, to their respective classrooms.
At all times, the ICC has a staff
member who is certified in adult/infant CPR and First
Aid training. Due to the proximity of our long-term,
skilled nursing care services, there is also a registered
nurse on the premises in case of an emergency. Trained
volunteers complement staffing ratios.
Proper nutrition is viewed as an
essential component to a child's growth and development.
All meals and snacks are prepared by the Grand Traverse
Pavilons Food Services Department and meet USDA nutritional
standards.
The ICC offers full and part-time
care Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m.
and 6 p.m. The Center is closed on holidays, and as
otherwise determined. For special program information
regarding Head Start or Title XX, contact the ICC at
