Grand Traverse Pavilions receives generations united Intergenerational shared site award in Washington, D.C. National Award Sponsored By ONEgeneration
TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Grand Traverse Pavilions, one of the largest multi-aged continuum of care communities in Michigan, is the recipient of this year’s national Generations United Intergenerational Shared Site Award.

Generations United represents more than 100 national, state, and local organizations and individuals representing more than 70 million Americans. Since 1986, Generations United has served as a resource for educating policymakers and the public about the economic, social, and personal imperatives of intergenerational cooperation.

According to a Doug Lent, a spokesman for Generations United, the award recognizes an individual or organization, which has made outstanding contributions in uniting the generations through intergenerational shared sites.

Grand Traverse Pavilions is honored to receive this accolade, according to Richard E. Marion, Jr., CEO/Administrator of The Pavilions.

“We have valued for years the intergenerational exchanges we foster both through our own efforts and those with the community at large, he said.”

Grand Traverse Pavilions is parent organization to Grand Traverse Medical Care, Intergenerational Community Center, Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation, The Cottages: Adult Residential Community, and the Aquatic/Wellness Center.

The nationally, award-winning health care and residential community is operated by the Grand Traverse County Department of Human Services Board and owned by Grand Traverse County.

Grand Traverse Pavilions offers a broad range of intergenerational programs and services, including adult day and respite services, child care, independent and assisted living, long-term, skilled nursing care, health and fitness services, rehabilitation and outpatient therapy.

Situated on historic national parkland, Grand Traverse Pavilions is a 26-acre campus, adjacent to downtown Traverse City, just off Elmwood Avenue and 7th Street on 1000 Pavilions Circle.

Currently, Grand Traverse Pavilions is home to more than 330 older adults, 50 children enrolled in daily child care, and numerous participants in adult day services, overnight respite, health and fitness classes, and outpatient rehabilitation.

As the need for programs and services increases, Grand Traverse Pavilions works aggressively through the Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation to offset decreasing reimbursements and increasing costs.

This year, it is expected that The Pavilions together with its funds development component, Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation, will provide more than $3 million in benevolent care to members of this Northwest Michigan community.
